I have learned and used all the weapons you mentioned plus many more over the years. The Bow staff (long & short), Tonfa, Sai go back a long way with my training but, the Nunchaku were my very first, both single and double chucks.
I don't know just what you are looking for in the use of a weapon, be it forms compition or, just too master one piticular weapon. The Sai is a nice weapon or the double chucks, it's a flip of the coin on the ones you mentioned.
Good luck.

The Mind Watch I will show you
Everything else is only an Extension
Martial Arts are not about Violence
ask any past leader of any good cause
name one please and not Lidell
I mean like
Budda or Jesus it is not a part of the Koran as my Muslim brothers have well made clear, umm Daoism, hmm
how ablout Martin Luther, say John Paul how bout
John the Baptist or say
Your Dead Marine Brother that died because Violence creates Violence
My Jewish brothers don't like it, nor do the Amish ( Need I say they lost some sweet girls to the current violence trend). And ya no neither does the little children suffering from the beatings at school, say how bout Shinto, or even Ron L. Hubbard and ya know neither does my Hindu brothers.
My Christisn brothers are fighting for PEACE, well...
please argue with me intelligently as many are reading this and I would like to verbally spar with any of you willing to test your wits not your brawn, lets show the world our real skills that matter ;)
kinda like whosssss the dumbasssssss on line
Violence has No Real Defense
And so a 3rd Grader will look on line
any I mean any respectful person to admire will wipe you all out with
Simple Logic based in Moralistic principles that say
No Violence

To be honest all you need is your body. How often are you going to have any of those weapons with you other then in class? Me personally i would use the nunchucks because that's what i learned to use first other then the bo staff. As far as actually being lethal from your list i would go with either the sai or the broad sword simply because they are bladed weapons.

The most dangerous weapons you can have are a focused mind and a trained body. Anythin' else comes from that. Bladed weapons are the most lethal, because anyone can swing one around an cause damage. However, as stated, they are illegal to carry around with you for day-to-day activities. A bo/staff is a good foundational weapon and the way you handle it can be most easily transfered to a self-defense siituation. A pipe, 2x4, broom, etc, can easily be wielded for self defense by someone who has practiced using a bo.

Your Self and your mind --
everything else is just an extension!
Personally, I prefer the walking stick or cane!
All of the weapons you listed are illegal and you would be arrested if you attempted to carry them on the street.
Cane Masters has a program that teaches the cane as a weapon. The cane is adaptable to any martial art.

Um not trying to trick you but if you have studied the history of martial arts (and there is a lot of that) the answer is 'surprise', you immediately have an advantage over your opponent. Hope I do not appear to be a smart tart, not really qualified enough to do that just yet, do this help any?

Hi there
Its been said time and time again but it is in fact your mind. Being able to adapt and use any item at your disposal. I was once thrown by a coat hanger and a roller paint brush of all things.lol
But if its ancient weapons then its the flying guillotine! if it ever existed!

I'd have to say your body is the most lethal for many reasons. First, you always have it with you and unless you're insane, you probably don't leave it at home. Second, it's not illegal to carry around anywhere. There aren't many people who get arrested for taking their body places. Lastly, it takes little preparation to get ready to use it. You don't have to get it out of your suitcase, load it, or put it together. It comes readily assembled.
