Formula 1 is one off manufacturing that is constantly in development and anything goes as long as it meets the construction formula. It takes seriously big bucks to stay competitive. Races involve left and right turns, hills, switch backs and serious deceleration and acceleration. They also run wet or dry.
Nascar starts with a manufacturers stock body and modified components but all must fit the stock chassis. Majority of races only involve left turns, there is minimum acceleration and deceleration and the cost to enter is significantly lower.
It comes down to what you prefer to watch.

I like all kinds of racing. To me the best part of a Formula 1 race is the start. That is when most of passing seems to happen.Whoever gets the hole shot, then the race is pretty much over. During a NASCAR race there are different things happening all the time. The drivers have personalities, some I like others I don't.Those are some of the reasons why it makes it more fun for me to watch.

Formula 1 all the way, then champ car then Indycar, I might then glimpse at Nascar just to see what Montoya is doing.

I like racing in general, but NASCAR tends to be more colorful to watch on TV.
I guess I'm saying that NASCAR does a better job of marketing their sport to the masses.

If F1 didnt run at Indy I would go to Canada to watch a live race, if Nascar didnt run at Indy I wouldnt go out of my way to watch a race. Open wheel racing is more exciting to watch in person than Nascar, and with all the conditions they run in it takes more skill.

NASCAR for sure. F1 is ok, but to watch cars that can practially drive themselves is not that interesting. The big bucks, cars etc in F1 are great but once the race starts it's pretty much over, no passing, bumping etc.
