Start checking out books on dogs from the library and make a wish list with your research to find out what dog you would like the best IF you got one, and try to find out everything that's needed in their care, and think of creative ways to earn money buy the things your dog would need. When you take this approach, if you want it bad enough you just might find a way to make a dog look irresistable.

You do not say how old you are but how ever old you may be you are going to have to show your Mum that you are old enough. Firstly is somebody at home all day? A dog is not a toy and cant be put away on a shelf when you are busy doing something else. Have you any baby brothers and sisters at home? If so I am afraid I would not have sold you a puppy untill the youngest child was at least 10. Start by doing some research on line and decide if you want a big or a small dog. Then decide what breed and learn as much about your chosen breed as possible. How much will it cost to buy?Does it moult? How big does it grow? Is it good with children? How much excercise does it need? Some of these answers can be found on the KC site. Print all your infomation out and show your Mum you mean business.

It depends what her reasons are.

Does she say you won't look after it?If so prove you are responsible by doing jobs round the house etc.

If she can't afford it offer to get a paper round to help pay for it's food, vet bills etc.

If she just doesn't like dogs you'll have to wait till your 16,then at 16 decide whether she'd kick you out for annoying her.If not then you can buy a dog.

At 16 you can buy a pet yourself and if she tries to take it away can be arrested for theft.

If you really MUST have 1 now try emotional blackmail.Ignore her totally, except when asked direct questions.Avoid her company-spend all your time in your room or out of the house etc.Play loads of emo 'slit your wrist songs' and when you do speak to her talk about pain, sadness and death a lot so she thinks your really depressed and maybe even suicidal.

When she asks how she can help say having a dog for a friend would make you feel better.

Be prepared to keep this up for ages though as parents can be thick and it may take weeks or even months. It worked for my 13 yr old cousin eventually though.

ask a friend if you can dogsit for a weekend, and let your mum see how good you are with animals, show her you will walk it for at least 1 hour a day, feed it when needed, wash it, dry it, clean up the mess behind it, pet it, give it attention when possible.

when the weekend is up, show her that it means something to you. at the end of the day your a teenager now and not a 5 year old, they should respect your wishes more, just because she doesnt want one does not mean she should deprive you of it, that is unfair, you need to explain to her that you will be the carer for it, not her, and should you slack with it then you will accept what she says.

my mum was the same when i was a teenager, she gave in to me after i borrowed a puppy from my friend and said i found it outside on the road (she still doesnt know any different) she will be concerned wether your responsible enough, so show her you are, if she still says no, well then its no, just tell her she doesnt love you, that she doesnt care what you want and run away (lol, thats a joke)

Goodluck either way.

Promise to clean up after it, walk it in all the horrible weather when it wants to go outside, feed it, contribute towards food bills and vets fees too. Then maybe ask about rescuing an unwanted dog or puppy from a cat and dog shelter. Check your local paper for RSPCA adverts asking for homes for specific animals and show her the pictures of the unwanted dogs. It might tug at her heart-strings.
I hope you succeed, because having a dog is one of life's greatest gifts.

Sit down and talk to your mum. Let her know that you are ready to care for a dog and that you know the responsibilities it brings.
set a trial date for example 3weeks and if you prove you can take care of him, you get to keep him.
but make sure to have arrange for someone else to take a dog if you don't succeed.
Good luck
