You mean "Whats the most used breed for heeling?"

Any dog can be taught to heel if it is done right. As for a list of the smartest dogs, from experience in the purebreed field I have to say Labadors, Collies and German Shepards tend to be the easiest to train and the smartest groups.

The b1tch ticket at Crufts this year was won by a Belgian Shepherd. Are you talking obedience (usual breed is a border collie) or Heelwork to Music (which is any breed).
Poodles are very intelligent (2nd only to collies allegedly but I disagree I reckon their 1st!) and do very well in obedience, Heelwork to Music and agility.

In this country that would be border collies, followed by german shepards. In the states, golden retrievers are more common, but they look for different things in thier obediance.
