yes, my brother who's been a dodge mechanic for over 15 years says it's one of the best engines dodge makes, perfect if you're getting a dakota or durango. I was getting a durango he suggested the 4.7 so that's what i got and boy it's got some good power i'm never disapointed with it.

I've got a 2006 Dakota with the 4.7L, and I love it. It has more than enough umph, can tow with no problems, and get decent, (not great), but decent gas mileage (about 15 town, almost 20 freeway). I would definitely get another when this truck is done with, but that should be a long way off, it only has about 15,000 miles on it. Get the 5-speed trans. if at all possible.

They are pretty damn good Engines. If you get a 5 speed you can hang with the 5.9 R/T(stock). They are just a tad slower. These are more factory tuned than what the 5.9 or the 5.2 came as. But on the other hand, you will be able to get more HP and Torque out of the 5.2 and 5.9 with aftermarket parts than the 4.7, but overall I haven't heard any complaints about them. If I didn't have my Dakota R/T with the 5.9 then thats what I would have bought.

My 4.7 never gave me any problems. The gas mileage wasn't what I hoped to see, but it could tow with no issues.
