Me and my other roommate give her our share of the rent and then she writes the rent check to Long and Foster. She wrote a bad check this month. All of our names are on the lease. Is this going to affect my credit, even though I didn't write a bad check?

Inform management so they'll know that you are one of the good guys. She will suffer the bad check fee at her bank and with the management company, and it's likely that the property manager will insist on cash or money order from here on out.

My daughter is in the same situation. Her roomy also wrote a bad check to the landlord. My daughter gave her friend cash for her have of the rent and when she turned the check in it bounced. My daughter went down to the management and told them what was going on. They still tacked on the late fee for the rent, but they listened to her and worked with her by taking her half of the rent from her and letting her roommate be responsible for all bounced checks and late fees. But we also ran into another problem as her roommate is now approx. $2500.00 behind in rent and my daughter is paid up. They will both be evicted and because the lease is in both names it will go on both girls credit. This is unfair, but the way business works.

It won't have an affect on your credit as long as you make good on the check.

I agree with the first person...give roomie a good beatdown.
