We have come to know and to believe in the love God has for us. God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him.

If thinking that there is a God helps you to love or be loved then there is love in God.

I would just like someone to point out any place in the Bible where God does a truly good, kind, loving act, one that does NOT involve the shedding of blood. It seems like everything he does involves violence or the threat of violence. In the O.T., he threatens the Israelites with drought, plague, war, pestilence, failed crops, and infertility if they don't obey him; in the N.T., he threatens everyone with eternal hellfire if they don't obey him. Is this love? (Also, in the OT, it is only the Israelites to whom he promises mercy and kindness; gentiles exist only to be conquered by the Israelites under God's direction so that they can have more land.)
God is depicted as angry, jealous, vindictive, punishing, and quick-tempered--qualities which certainly have nothing to do with love. According to the "love chapter" in 1 Cor. 13, love is never jealous, yet God describes himself as a jealous God who punishes children for the sins of their fathers (Exo. 20:5, among many others). So, by the Bible's own admission, God is NOT love. It is pretty bad when the Bible can be used to disprove itself. :o\

No. God is a superstition. At best, God is a storybook character. Judging from the stories, God is a fairly nasty character.
Love is an emotion. You don't need religious superstition to enjoy love.

The Bible says God is a murderer, rapist, and terrorist.
Do you really believe a loving god would kill his kid or ask that others kill their kids.
Do you believe the psychotic god of the split personality who is three in one but still one who let himself be killed on the cross but can't die?
Give us a break, make up something more amusing like Hindu flying monkeys.
