now it 6-8 months... if you dont do it soon she will come into heat and then you have another set of problems you really dont want to deal with...lol....also she needs her last set of vaccines which includes her Rabies... those will be good for a year... congrats on the pup...smile
EDIT: contrary to some peoples beliefs "Do not wait until she has had one cycle....do it prior to her first cycle"
EDIT EDIT: no it does not matter what breed she is go make the appointment soon prior to her going into heat...smile

They can be spayed from 4 months.
As yours is 8 months it depends on when her first season was.
If she was 6 months old when she had it-which is the average-have her spayed in a month. If not have her spayed 3 months after her first season.
The reason for this is that this will be 3 months before her next and so her womb will have the least chance of heavy bleeding.

If she's 8 months old, then it's a perfect time! They can be spayed starting at about 6 months, but that's not a requirement. I would suggest getting her spayed now. If you wait, it increases the chances for infection and other nasty diseases. :-)

Six months. Anytime after that she could come into season. And it isn't necessary for a dog to have a first season before spaying either.

It's fine to get it done now. Ignore people who tell you a dog should have a litter before she's spayed to "mature" her body. That's a load of crap and increases her risk of cancer as well as complications due to pregnancy and whelping. Not to mention the unwanted puppies it produces.

As a general rule, they should be spayed 12 weeks after their first season. Before their first season, you can risk problems with incontenance, and you have to wait 12 weeks after a season, because otherwise the risk of heavy bleeding is too big.

The breed makes no difference to at what age she should be speyed. Having been a dog breeder for more years than I can remember I feel it is safer to wait till a female has had her first season ( heat) It will make no difference to her nature BUT watch her diet as speyed/castrated animals do tend to put on weight.

6 Months is the minimum age, otherwise there's not a lot to remove. Now would be a good time for your doggy. Good for you for making the right choice.
As an edit, your dog doesn't need to experience a heat before she's speyed. It's best to get it done now before it happens.

It depends on your views. She can be done anytime preseason, but personally i'd wait till after her 1st season.
Some vets believe that there is an increase risk of urinary incontinence in b i t c hes neutered preseason. The uterus is easier to remove after the season as its larger, waiting 9 weeks allows the hormones to reduce down and the blood supply ot disipate slightly. If you spay when shes in season the uterus will be more fragile. Speak to your vet surgery as they will have their own policies and preferences as to when and why
