Civilisation and technology have allowed man to adapt the environment, sometimes beneficial, sometimes not.

Most other creatures have to adapt to their environment - we can adapt the environment to suit us.

We find in the history lessons how the kings of those days were conscious of the need to nurture nature while utilising it.. They harnessed rain water by digging tanks for agriculture and livestock use, for rising the ground water level etc. They had planted trees along the main roadways to afford shade to the travellers. They however hunted the wild animals causing menace in villages adjacent to forests, as they had the duty to protect the people from losses to their crops and livestock.. But some kings also hunted as a pastime which may not be acceptable to us, but by and large, the ancients had an environment consciousness any way..

The technologies are just tools and it depends how we use them, whether in the context of the environment or otherwise.. There are techs to trap rain water more effectively, to convey water more economically (by preventing wastes by evaporation and seapage enroute) like the drip and sprinkler methods.. We can do away with the need to fell trees for fuel purpose by adopting the alternate fuel strategies.. and so forth..

But the main reason for the environmental damages are due to over exploitation of nature for our increasing industrial, civic and other needs, without simultaneous action to replenish the losses and take measures to conserve the resources.. There are techy for these too.. only we should have the mind...

But govts manned by politicians on 5-year contract over power to rule, give away permission for every sort of commercial and other exploitation of common property resources while doing little for preserving the resources. As such it would not be prudent to complain the techy in this matter. Our modern society of greedy and selfish people in the helm may perhaps be blamed (perhaps because people have the power to vote for right hands, but then the choice is between evil and lesser evils only for the latter,,, what to do?!)..

Ya know, Technology is a great thing. It has allowed mankind to enhance it's life by creating new substances for comfort, develope new communications abilities and entertainment venues. However, technology has also seperated mankind from nature, it has created a passive society focused on the individual self instead of the collective whole. It (technology) has created foods that are less then healthy and modes of transportation that can speed us around the world in hours instead of days or weeks that it used to take. and funny enough we now go outdoors for leisure time when it used to be that we would go outside to live. Technology-- Good Idea bad reality. Oh yeah I do have a computer and tv (like so many I am hooked on them and unlike so many I wish I wasn't.--Working hard to end my dependence---).

Although man has made great attempts to ''preserve and understand'' nature in turn they have also crushed and pillaged it for what ever it has. I believe the biggest problem is being stuck in a mass production consumer based world. As long as there is money to make man will do what it can to take from the earth. So yeah we as civilization have and are ruining the earth with our advancements but the same people who complain are the same people with cell phones and laptops.

automobiles that run on organic gas (methane) are an excellent purchase cleanser than gas powered automobiles or maybe hybrids. I even have 2 of them, the two made by skill of Ford in 1999 and 2000 (no longer new technologies, of course). they're additionally plenty extra low priced to top off ($10 in Utah), so it particularly is doubly stable. look at my materials under for the great tale. stable success!
