I read somewhere that people are more afraid of success than they are of failure. I think this is true. They feel that something seems too good to be true. Or, they couldn't possibly get something that good.
You might try offering them a smaller but more concrete example of what they could get. You would have to explain it more fully and let them know what is in store for them.
Also, the word "opportunity" has taken on the meaning of "scam." This is because many real scams advertise themselves under the title of "opportunity." Choose some other word such as "job" or "position."
When people come to my easy home businesses site, I give them a lot of fr.ee information about many specific home businesses. I notice the more information they receive, the more they want. And, if they like it, they buy my guides.
I hope this helps.

I have found that people do want a better life, but do not want to get scammed again. They have a resistance to being sold. If you are sounding too desperate for the sale they will resist and avoid.
Short version of a really long answer. I too have been burned many time by "opprotunities" where once I paid my money the salesperson or organization became too hard to contact. Then of course I made no money with the end result of loosing money.
So in your situation you are probably sounding too much like a salesman. Remember the one rule; People do not buy what they need, they buy what they want.
So be helpful with a genuine desire to help them and explain in a way that people will want what you have.
Think of it like feeding veggies to young kids. If you tell them it's good for them and they should eat it the kid will resist and avoid eating them. But if you say that only adults eat these and that kids are not allowed to have such valuable food, then the kids will want them. To the point of eating seconds...
So, change your tactics and make them want what you have and you will see a lot more people show up for their appointments.

They probably chickened out. I mean home based Biz is often a come on, and people dont want to pay the high prices that are often associated with these businesses. I have looked into a few and feel that if it is too good to be true then it is, (come on, if one can make a thousand bux a week, why wouldnt everyone be doing it, then the country would be full of rich ones?).

Because a majority of these biz opportunities seem flawed. Often the people promoting these are pushy. On receipt of links to the business information, people often find the information vague and requiring an initial payment.

because they judged what you deemed "good opportunity" as a waste of their time. it's been my observation that when people like yourself don't spill outright what the opportunity is all about, it's because the opportunity is not that good at all and requires hard sell from you to convince anyone.
You may have to change your marketing ploy to attract people in. If you are doing a door to door marketing...you got it, people would shut you out.
