i laughed when I read this - I have 5 children from 12 months to 17 years old and another on the way... So I am well versed in the toils of getting kids to bathe. I asked my pediatrician once years ago and his answer was more or less like this...
It depends on your child's day-to-day activity. Bathing is really necessary only to clean your child off when she gets dirty. That could range from several times in one day, if she makes mud pies or plays in a muddy stream, to once every three or four days, if she spends her time playing house and reading. Most active children could benefit from a bath every few days. If twice a week is still more than your child can handle, wipe her off with a damp washcloth, especially private areas, or take her for a swim in a pool or a lake. This will get her almost as clean as a bath, without any of the fighting.
With the note that I found instead of full bath every night it was very easy to establish a routine of warm washcloth for pits and privates after "we" went potty before we got into jammies for bed.
Don't feel you aren't the WONDER MUM of you don't get them bathed every day - hell or even every other for that fact...
The 4 & 5 year old I'd set at least a every other day bath for because of school/daycare activites that they may have gotten sweaty, and again the bed time warm wachcloth is a good tool to keep them "fresh".

In the summer I bathe him everyday. He is always outside and getting sweaty.
In the other seasons I try to bathe him everyday but I will occasionally skip a day.
If he is at school (he's 4 now) then I bathe him daily. Playing with other children with colds and stuff is gross.
Take Care.

My children take a bath every other day, my pediatrition actually recommened to to give them a bath eveyday and to co every two to three days at the younger age as it dries their skin. Of course they need their faces washed along with their hands. Mt son is 11 and takes a shower every day, 9 year old takes one every other day and my 4 year old is overy 2-3 days.

Hi, i have a 3 yr old and a 7month old. I normally bath them daily although if I am washing my toddlers hair I dont bath my baby because it takes so long and he screams the whole time, so my baby sometimes goes 2 days. Also if we have been out and get in late I dont bath them so max they go is 3 days.

Serious answers please?? You get a serious answer when you ask a serios question. Little kids play and roll around on the floor and do other little nasty things with their hands. So they need a good bath each night before they go to bed. If you don't take a bath every night just make sure that your kids do.

I only have a one year old...and I bathe him every other night...more of course if he is very messy. My ped. told us that as long as they arent sweaty and dirty it is ok not to do it everynight...It is actually better on babies skin because too much soap and water can dry out their delicate skin. I would think though that the 4 and 5 would prob. need everynite as they will be a lot sweatier and dirty.

I like this. Serious answers pls.
OK. Seriously, in our culture and country, we shower kids twice a day. The first one or two months are an exception depending on the time of their birth. In winter the new borns cannot take twice a day routine.
I did it for my kid, my mom did it for us, and my granny did to my mom and her bros and sisters.
The perfect is the evening one. I don't remember mine much. But my daughter loved hers in the evening when I used the hot water with soothing salts.
