I saw baby octopuses in a pickled jar the other week at Tesco supermarket (UK)
To be honest, I not know where you live so I guess the best way is to try & order from a fishmonger's.
I hope you find your octopus!

Generally it's because of shelf life.
squid and octopus can only be kept for around 1 day in the supermarket before they have to dump it.
fish will keep for 3 days, so every night they put it back in the fridge and get it out the next day.
And we get told it's fresh..............?

Some grocery stores carry squid, but I've never seen one that carries octopus. There's just not a demand for it in the US. Try an Asian market. That's the only place I can think of that would have it.

I have had octopus overseas, but I suspect there is not much of a market for it here. And "yes" for all you that keep answering that he means squid (not octopus)...people do eat octopus, too.
Anyway...You stock what the majority of customers want...It's called capitalism.

Depends on where you live...
In many places in the US, nobody would buy it, so it would just
go bad and cost the store more money than they would get back.
In other places, its so popular, they can't keep it on the shelves.
By the way, SQUID is Calamari, not Octopus.
