try open office. it's free and compatible. It's not ms office but it does the same things, reads and creates the same files and the differences are very slight. I use it on my laptop. Why give microsoft 200 bucks for a program when you don't have to?
you can get it here:

http://www.openoffice.org/

it's made by sun microsystems, the same people that made java. totally free.

You cannot download microsoft office for free.
instead of using Microsoft office ,try OpenOffice .
That 's absolutely free and it's worth a lot practicing to use freeware.
The company that i am working for is now using freeware office program because there is no cost for software license.
For the antivirus software, you can use other program for free as well. Try www.avast.com for the home user.
I do not recommend using Norton because it is the first antivirus program that the virus programming has to pass through. Moreover, it is quite slow to update the new virus database.
Try Avast ! you will not be disappointed.

Why you want to learn microsoft office while there is a free office suite that become more popular. That is OpenOffice http://www.openoffice.org/

Why you want to get norton? Just go norton site ( http://www.symantec.com ) and perhaps there were a free version available there, you can use it for 15 days. I do install norton antivirus, but then I uninstall norton antivirus after 3 days. Now I am using Clamwin antivirus ( http://www.clamwin.com/ )
