What people (liberals) will not except is that the US has an all volunteer force. Although the only thing the media reports is the negative side of recruiting, the military has met all recruiting goals.

I voluntarily enlisted in the military knowing full well the scope of my duties and the possibility of going to war. I served 20 years and went to Iraq 3 times without regret...

The people who have been enlisting since the beginning of the Iraqi war are of a higher intelligence, more patriotic, and have more education than before. I know this from the recruits I carried in my taxi. Before the Iraqi war a lot of young men and women saw the military as a way to move up in the world. When the war began, young men and women that had much better options chose to serve for a worthy cause.

Frustrates the left that the military is meeting its goals and the troops are not that of those of the 60's/70's and are refusing to join there reliving the anti-war movement.....The force is all volunteer and the only people they can get to talk about draft is the Anti-Bush crowd to make themselves feel good, oh yeah they conveniently forget one of their own, Charles Rangle (D) is pushing for a draft.

enlistent durning the iraq war... should gain respect from a lot of ppl...but it still dont...its means alot to all of us that are serving now tho... dont join unless you are willing and able to spend time away from your family and loved ones everynow and then... And if you join..you just better be prepared to head over seas...not sayin you will but be ready to if it happens...but either way its still a lifestyle you will have to adapt to ne time you join the military..

exceeded goals, Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said during testimony today before the House Armed Services Committee.
"I'm pleased to report that all active branches of the United States military exceeded their recruiting goals for the month of December," Gates said, "with particularly strong showings by the Army and the Marine Corps."

My view point is everyone capable of serving and you are in the US then you should serve. You want citizenship then serve in our military and prove your proud to be an American. Otherwise go home wherever you came from and be forced to serve for your country. Your either with us or against us. Maybe you could be the one to stop terrorism globally.
