To answer you question you must ask yourself a few questions ?

1. How often are you going to travel?
2. How much are you going to invest ?

I travel often and here are my experiances :

1.I would buy an expensive suitcase with a long International Guarantee
2. I would go for a lightweight suitcase
3. Look at three things : The wheels , The handle (Is it easy to drag along the floor). The thickness of the material use in the suitcase

4. Ask the seller if it's waterproof. You be surprise how often the case arrives on the belt wet, especially in third world countries.
5. Check on the locks of the case. It might be better to select ones that Airport security can open . Nowdays security can open cases , and your locks could be forced open if they do not conform to the new standards.Check with seller

6. Personally I think , Delsey are the best. I have a couple that have lasted ten years, I have had problems with Samsonite.

Please note a cheap suitacase will probably last two trips , and then you have to throw them away!

7. I like black suitcases , but thats a problem because 85% of cases are black on the belt.

I hope this as helped you.

I travel the world frequently and I LOVE the line of suitcases from Murano http://www.dillards.com/endeca/EndecaStartServlet?Ntt=murano&Ntk=all&search.x=0&N=1000450+2010113&Nty=1&search.y=0
and Delsey http://www.dillards.com/endeca/EndecaStartServlet?Ntk=all&Nty=1&Ntt=delsey&search.x=0&search.y=0
luggages because they are fun colors and not easy to miss, they stand up exceptionally well to all the wear and tear of traveling, they are lightweight, the are spacious and practical, they are offer extra goodies inside (such as toiletries bags, special covers for hanging special clothes, etc) and they are easy to use.

I know that on the site it says they may be expensive (I personally think they are worth every enny), but I got mine on sale. Look in the weekend ads. I got a Murano that usually retails for $230, I got it for $40 on sale just because they had too much luggage and needed to move some out!

Good luck to you!
