One God with as many names as there are cultures and languages.
How likely is it that every culture would have come up with the exact same name for God?
Love and blessings Don

I agree with "a_blvr" (the second answerer to your question).
1. Are gods of the religions different ? Yes. Each God is different, and that's why people honor them differently.
2. Do the people in the world beleive in different gods ? Yes. This, of course varies with the culture, subculture, and individual cultures.
3. How many gods are there ? In Christianism and Islam there is only one God, which, by the way is the same God for both religions. In Hinduism alone, there are a bit over 3,000 Gods and Goddesses. While in Pagan religions there can be from two Gods (a God and a Goddess) to tens of Gods and Goddesses, each of them are part of the ALL.
4. If we beleive there are gods more than one, isnt it the right time to question our own beleifs ? Some people have questioned their beliefs, and for that reason have done one of three things:
a) remained stronger in their faith, changing nothing, or,
b) explored other beliefs and changed their religious beliefs.
c) some have opted for not believing in any God at all.
However, I agree with Lee-Anne (third answerer) Yes it is about time we question your beliefs, and explore other point of views, study yours and other religions to understand each of them better, so you can be able to decide what is right for you.
Religions beliefs are personal choices. You have the right to find out "what else is out there", and decide what is right for you; whether it is believing in one God, several Gods and Goddesses, or not believing in any God at all.
I have never regreted learning of other religions, and chosing one of them as my personal religion. Since then I live in peace not only with everyone regardless of their beliefs, but in peace with myself.

The gods of the various world religions are completely different entities. Odin, Zeus, Hanuman, Ra..all different beings. If they weren't then they would all ahve the same name (or all their names would have the same meaning in their various languages.) As to how many gods there are, I don't know that anyone has ever actually done a count but ti would be in the thousands, (some even say the Hindu religion alone has several thousand alone).

There are more gods than people can count, and some people do believe in gods different than the ones that you probably would beleive in.

Believe it or not, all religions point back to one supreme ruler, even in religions of more than one god, one always reigns supreme. The more commonly accepted religions of Islam, Judiasm, and Christianity all focus on the God of Abraham, though that is where they split ways. Jews believe they are the biological kids of Abraham, as do the Muslims. Funny thing is, they are both right. However, according to the Christian religion, people who live a life of faith in God and His Son Jesus, are children of Abraham through faith. According to the Christian Bible, this is what saves people, not their genealogy.

According to hard polytheists, people do believe in different gods. There are more gods than we can count, possibly even as many as there are people, if not more. There are at least 33,000 gods in Hinduism alone. I do believe there are more gods than one, and I got here by questioning my beliefs.

The world speaks of many gods, but I believe in the One True God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob whose Son is Jesus Christ our Lord. It is said that Semiramus in rebellion against God spawn 70 gods and goddesses. She named a god for everything - fire, water, earth, sun, moon, love, sex, etc. and an idol was made with human hands so they could place something in their home to worship.
The One True God was not made with human hands. He is the Alpha and the Omega. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He does not change.

Try this website: www.religioustolerance.org
It's maintained by several people with different faiths/non-faiths and it presents non-biased, informative descriptions of pretty much every religion you can imagine. It's fascinating. Have fun reading!

there are currently 2,880 different gods, goddesses and others listed at:
http://www.godchecker.com/
and no doubt the people that believed in them were just as intelligent and sincere and as utterly convinced of their existence as any believer alive today is in their god or gods.
