First of all let me start by saying that muscle weighs a lot more than fat. So even if you eat better and exercise that doesn't mean you gona lose weight, you are gona look more toned. So try and mesure your sucess by your change in apperance and the percentage of body fat (you can buy a pair of body fat scales cheaply to track your progress).

Genetics has a big part to play so you maybe more preposition to have this body type and it's not a case of you not eating or exercising right. Do other people in your family, and not just your imediate family share the same traits?

I would advise you to work on emphasing your upper body. By increasing the size of your upperbody you will balance out your preportions. Try swimming this is execelent for your shoulders and to restrict the movemnt of your legs you could buy special floats which are attached to the feet that stop them moving while you swimming.

You could also desguise the areas you not so happy with by choosing the wright clothes. Wear darker more nautral trousers or jeans and brighter tops or something eyecatching with a slogan which would draw the eye up. Try wearing a blazer as the structure would make your shoulders appear larger and again would attract more attention than your trousers.

You have to keep at it. 3 weeks is nothing, although if you truly reduced your calorie intake, you should have dropped a couple of pounds.

If you are genetically programmed to store fat in your thighs and butt, thats where its going to go. On the other hand, that's probably where its going to come off first when you finally reduce your calorie intake below your daily needs.

Its good that you're watching WHAT you eat, but weight loss doesn't happen until you do something about HOW MUCH.

You can help the process with an hour or more a day of vigorous aerobic exercise. Anything that continuously elevates your heartrate for a significant period of time. Swim, bike, run are the best examples. Walk if you're not in good enough shape to run. It takes a LOT of walking to burn significant calories, but it will get the job done if you put the time in.

As for targeting thighs and butt, you don't get to choose where the fat comes off, short of liposuction.

Good Morning,

The body is a tricky animal and unfortunately you cannot 'tell' it where to shed unwanted pounds/inches.

What you can do is continue on your diet and add some exercise. What is your water intake? Water is very effective, if you've just drank 16 oz. of water, are you going to feel like eating as much? Probably not.

You don't have to go to a gym but try going for a walk around the block once or twice a day. Another is a lying side leg raise. You lay on your side and raise your leg up/down slowly.

Changing your body shape doesn't happen overnight but with the proper exercise/diet regimen, I'm sure you can make this happen.

One last thing is the mental approach. It's very easy if you're not seeing immediate results, to give up. Believe in yourself. You're not trying to just change your body, you're changing your lifestyle. It's not easy but remember the prize.

Good luck, you will succeed!

I'm not an expert, but I can point you in a direction that does have quite a few experts. I was advised, by numerous people, to check out sparkpeople.com. I'm currently using their site to achieve my goals of weight loss (fat loss), muscle gain and overall better health.
From what I've learned on this free site has been invaluable in terms of the progress I've made. It has many ways to find answers to questions such as the ones you asked. One of the resources that is available is a section for self-help articles. Another area is a message board, where many people are trying to achieve similar, if not the same thing, as you. There is the ability to create a page that is a profile page, with your accomplishments, pictures and little bit about who you are and what your goals are. Finally, there is a function that allows you to either join, or create, groups that allow you to be with people who are attempting to achieve similar things with you. The groups are extremely diverse, and if you don't see something that appeals to you, you can create your own.
Sparkpeople can create a specialized diet plan and exercise program for you, or you can use something you are already using and just use SparkPeople to track your progress. It has a fully functional database of most foods and exercise so that you can daily track calories consumed as well as calories spent in exercise.
I hope this brings you to a way that provides the weight loss you desire. Best of luck!

Lucinda

*Note - I am not an employee of SparkPeople.com, I'm just a very satisfied user of their site.

U eat only when hungry and that too not more than three times a day with only and only water in between. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. In the process u enjoy it more and make ur body motor system tell u that u have had enough.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve the ideal weight effortlessly in a reasonable time.

everybody stores fat in different parts of the body, but you start losing - it goes away from everywere.
its all about calories in - calories out.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will give you answer how many calories a day you need to consume to maintain your weight. take 300-400 calories off that number and thats how much you need to lose weight healthy way.
cardio excercise (running, cycling etc) 4-5 times a week 30-50min plus light weight training (heavy weights build muscle).
8 glases of water a day
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day
Good Luck!!!

If you can afford it, I would suggest you stack the odds in your favor. While nothing available to us today will allow you to spot reduce, I like Proactol to reduce my fat intake it will get you started on the right track, so that you can take your time changing your lifestyle and still see results.
