I would like a tattoo at the top of my thigh. Any suggestions? or is it not the done thing for a man?

One of my friends has a tattoo of a dagger with flames coming off of it on his thigh. I think it's perfectly fine for a guy to have one there. It doesn't make you any less of a man. If that's where you want it, go for it.

My feeling is that it's your body, your skin, and if you choose to have a tattoo on your thigh, then that's up to you. It's as good a place as any - and if anyone tried to tell me that a tattoo I wanted 'wasn't the done thing for a woman' I'd have something to say about it, and I don't see why any different a standard should apply when the situation's reversed.

In terms of 'any suggestions', I can't really tell you what to have as a tattoo - that, too is up to you! My suggestion would be to spend time finding out about the different styles of tattoos, think about subjects that mean a lot to you, have a look on the internet and in magazines, and go talk to tattoo artists. That way you can come up with something personal to you, and find an artist you'll be happy to have work on you.

How big? Small, top of thigh - more females than males get this done.

Most guys get something about the size of your hand or larger in the middle section. Depending on the art, your artist can best suggest a location.

i don't know what you mean by "the done thing" but i know quite a few guys with leg tattoos, including calves and thighs. i don't buy into the whole masculine/feminine tattoo placement.
i suggest that you think about what you want and not ask us. you didn't even give us any clue of what you like or what you would want. how can we be expected to know what would suit you? how about getting a tattoo of a rubber chicken?

Personally I think If you're so unsure you have to post this up on Yahoo!, having a tattoo is not a great idea for you.

To be honest I think tattoos on the thigh are reallly femine thing anyway.

my fella has just had one that covers the top of his thigh, and another of my friends has had one done there too so i think its a farely common place!

I always feel when it comes to tattoos you should always get something individual, have a look through tattoo mags, try sites like deviantart.com (type in 'tattoo' in the search engine) and look for inspiration everywhere, collect images you like and then either take them to your tattooist or if you have a creative friend ask them to come up with something for you.

I know the guys that have had it done, didnt complain about the pain, but the hairs growing back (obviously, if you have quite hairly legs they need to be shaved!)

A Tattoo on the top of the thigh is Hott!!! My roommater has one there!!! I think its differentand I like when more people are different... It a way to express themselves! The only thing is... I am not going to suggest what you should get b/c you are going to be the one to have it on your body for the resy of you life... Not me... So deff. get something that has meaning to you! And let me know how it goes!!! ;)

Try getting a temporary tattoo in the place that you want it. Try it for a few weeks.... see if you like it, see if you don't. But...... if you are in doubt for any reason...do not do it. What and Where you place your tattoo is a very personal decision and when you know what tattoo you want and where you want it..it is a very clear decision... like falling in love... you just know that is the one....

manly??? Have you seen the Maori tattooes? Strewth, their whole legs get covered!!! If you have a little star done then maybe that will be considered a tad effeminate [sic].

Have a look in as many magazines and websites as you can and don't rush!!! In my opinion, bigger is better!
