Constantly, and it really gets on my t*ts. I don't see that they should be able to get away with it. I can understand the neccessity of an ambulance or fire engine needing to speed to get to an emergency, but not the police. Surely not as often as they do. They are often putting others at risk.
And as you witnessed, I'm sure they speed as a matter of course even when there is no emergency. They are not above the law themselves, surely?
I was in my local town recently, just about to cross the road with my young daughter. This is a tiny town in Wales, with only one small roundabout in the centre. There was very little traffic, and by the time we heard the siren, a speeding police car was almost on top of us. He must have been doing 50 through the town centre. Where is the need for that? I just don't believe it is ever neccessary.
I have a great respect for the police, but unfortunately they keep letting me down.

Yeah, I work as a driver around Heathrow and I see it all the time. Some of the cops are in plain cars with plain clothes and have no lights or anything. You can't tell they're cops and they switch on their sirens and drive in the wrong lane against the flow of traffic. I think if they're going to do that they should at least have lights to identify them or they could have an accident.
There are some cops who drive modified Subaru's (in Surrey especially) and those cars are capable of 200mph with no problems. That is just unnecessarily dangerous.

In Canada any cop car heading to a Tim Horton Donut Shop could be guarranteed to be speeding. You'll never catch them at it. No cop is going to give another a ticket and your own vehicle has not had a spedometer check THAT morning. That gives them an explaination to the charge . Who knows? They may be undercover
( remember, The King Who Had No Clothes.?)Problem with slowing them down with a home-made road studded belt.......You the tax payer is going to foot the bill for new tires.

just because they have not got there blues and twos going dont mean there responding to a call. they sometimes leave both off as this can scare away the very people there trying to catch.
but yes they like to hide behind the badge and break the laws them selfs. still as long as they catch the muppets using phones whilst driving as thats more dangerous then speeding.

I have a friend who's a policeman and he does stupid speeds when driving around normally, he recently got caught for doing 156mph on a motorway but didn't declare that he was a policeman so got away with a £130 fine and not allowed to drive for a month... it's ridiculous!

Not in this respect, but I was with my dad once who pulled a police car over and told them that their tail lights weren't working. It was quite funny to see their reactions.

Different rules apply to them I think. One cut me up on a roundabout the other day (I was on it 1st) just because he'd come down the slip road too fast! Missed me by inches and even had the audacity to give me a dirty look.
