Sure, but you can go to jail for sneezing too. Can he charge you? Sure . You opened your mouth and lied to him. Obstructing an investigation. I don't know what state your in regarding your hand gun. Most times it's best to shut up and let a lawyer talk. People always convict themselves , thinking they can talk their way out of it, Cops have an unstated right to lie to anyone in the course of their investigations. Not so for you.
