Anything,anything at all! You should already know quite a bit about him if you've known him for 3 years, ask about what music he likes,hobbies he has etc just normal things you'd ask anyone!

If you're still in school:
"What classes do you have this semester", or "Did you have Mrs. Flink for Art? She was awful!" (no offense, Mrs. Flink!)...things like that.
OR, if you're older: What do you think of President Bush's current foreign policy in the Phillipines? or "How is your 401k doing--mine took a dip when the stocks crashed last week" (that's a double whammy question--you can find out if he has money OR NOT!)...OR...
Oh, never mind, just say "Hi!" and let HIM do all the work!

Are you married or do you have a girl friend? Do you like sports? Do you have sisters or brothers? Where were you born? What do you do for a living? or depending on your age...Are you going to go to college and for what? Just general questions to start and they usually lead to conversations. Good luck

if you have known him for 3 years.. you should know something about him.. so start talking to him, it wont be long until 3 more years pass you up.

Hey hun, You can ask him what are his plans for the holiday. Ask him about movies you think he's interested in. And other questions about school.

that's easy, ask him ANYTHING about himself and he'll spend a lot of time telling you all about it! if your trying to get a 1st contact, you might admire his shirt, hair cut, pants etc and ask where he got them or about his car, or job or studies. you could ask him for help with something. the list is endless!

How old is he? If he is in school, ask him what his favorite subject is. Or, what he enjoys doing outside of school. If he is older, you can ask him more questions about his work, his hobbies and interests.

if you want to start a conversation - things like what is his favorite sports teams, what are his hobbies, does he like politics, what is the last book he read, what is is favorite comic book character, what's his favorite ice cream flavor, what has he learned this week about himself/life, what are his goals, what are his hopes, what are his wishes, what is his vision in life
