Children play every day. Then why do we need matches like worldcup? It is the same with studies and exams. Change is needed in outlook. Learn to 'play' exams! This will make everything comfortable.
Exams no way judge your intelligence. What is really evaluated is your self confidence and your short term memory.
So, just take it positively because we cannot change the system and if at all this system is changed, some other system will come. The real problem is not exams ...... it is the system of mass education. Education is always an individual process. 'Mass education' means 'mess of education'!
People understand anybody's level of intelligence without knowing one's degrees and marks.
So either become a staunch rebellion and stop going to school but start studying something with your own methods, or take the system positively!
What will you do?

As a retired teacher, I can say this; exams were to evaluate what we taught, whether the subject was useful is dependent upon the individual. I never thought dates, places, etc were very important. Learning to think and being able to find information were my major goals. However, preparing for the SATs was very important. We have to get over the idea that the school is there to entertain. We all have to learn to do things we don't like.
On the other hands student need to learn to think.
One time a student told me in class that he really liked to ask me some controversial question and we would get in a big discussion which took up the whole period, then they wouldn't have to do any work. I guess he was referring to written assignments. He didn't realize that he was doing just what I wanted him to do--think, explore issues.
Obviously, he didn't know about Plato. I just let him go on thinking that they were really putting something over on me. After all, we all had such great fun. They didn't even equate It with education. Today, I still find myself amused when I think about him.
I think one of the characteristics of a great teacher is the ability to motivate. To go into an issue without preconceived ideas and explore the question from all sides was made very clear to me when I was working as a research assistant for a professor as an undergraduate.
He told that he had his biases but what he was looking for was truth, so when I went to do research on a subject, that I hadn't done my job unless I had looked at all points of view.
You really don't have to spend much time with a person to find out if they have been allowed to do some thinking. Even some extremely intelligent people, who consider themselves very well educated are only robots that follow the pack spouting their canned ideas and are extremely offended if someone dares to challenge their ignorance. Keep in mind, many were burned at the stake for daring to say the earth was not the center of the universe, nor was it flat. Today most people are a little more subtle. However, consider the wars going on today over ideology. Truly, being in an environment were differences are respected is a great advantage to an individual. However, when you go out on that limb you may get it chopped out from under you. Most people are very fanatical and will not even consider any opposing opinion. It is much safer to stick to 'facts, figures, and the most widely accepted theories.'
After all, Plato was order to drink poison for corrupting the youth.

I don't think exams can judge anyone's knowledge, his/her intelligency or talent properly. To some extend it may, but just to write down the study-book-content is not enough. It is like vomiting the whole syllabus in the answer sheet. I think the whole exam structure should be changed, there should be more and more practical exams ans assignments by which a student can prove that he/she understands the whole thing properly and they can show their talent. Moreover, there are lots of meretorious students who do not like gobbling the study-books, they would get relief from that and their future would be built properly.....

Testing ones knowledge it essential. If examination isn't a way... what else is.
If a proper knowledge assessment tool other than examination is put forward which is more pratical & provides the student an opportunity to display his/her talent - I will surely vote for it.
But until than Exams have to stay

exams do judge. just reading books and after a while removing it from your head. does that make sense. exams are conducted to test your knowledge and memory.
