There is a transparent spray known as "Plasti-Coat" that is available as an aerosol. It is available with other spray paints. Whether it is plastic or just a good, clear lacquer would need to be determined by reading the product label. Just remember that the surface being coated must be clean and free of grease and oil, so wipe it first with an appropriate agent (such as lacquer thinner or enamel reducer).
