you should talk with him..Tell him about how you feel n b clear to him that you love him n you want a relationship..Make sure he knows that you are not just flirting n u expect a meaningful relationship..so maybe if he is willing to, he may go ahead..but make sure you let it clear b4 you go on otherwise u'll get hurt later on..

Firstly their may be a reason for his dislike of relationships like he has had a couple of bad previous ones etc.
Also feelings changes and if he is interested in you then he will ignore the fact you said you like him as a friend if you were to ask him out..

Honestly though just ask him out and see where it goes.

They say all good relationships start out as friendship.

My wife is my best friend and it is great. Try a date or two, just the two of you and see how it feels. Being alone together in a romantic setting will let you and him know if it is love or just a "special friendship".

if you dont know for sure then your probably not. if you have to second guess yourself in the love department always go with your first instinct. guy friends are great but you have to draw a line at the flirting. flirting is all it is......so if your unsure id leave it at that

I say go for it, though I think the bad part will be that if it doesn't work out as boyfriend and girlfriend then the friendship will also lose. Say it turns out you get serious feelings for him and after awhile he only wants to be your friend again. I think it'll be hard to just be his friend if you feel you want more.

Sounds like you both have been getting off by being coy and flirtatious. It is time to either go to the next level together, or, just let it go and move on.

not enough info to answer wisely, completely and intelligently for just knowing a "friend" for a year...ask yourself this...is flirting for a year love? maybe not...crush, puppy love..ask mom or dad what love is and listen to their answer....maybe you should date(not sleep with) other people and see what this guy does...you have all the power and prob dont know it yet..does he see or date others? just not enough info ..be careful...

I'd go for it! If it doesn't turn out right you can always keep it as a friendship
