I'm a Uk ciztien my true love will remain with my mother land.

But I have been living in Beijing for over a year. Compared to my life in the UK I s imply find the change in scencery amazing. At the moment I live in Tsinghua campus, on the bike ride to my office on campus I go through village road like scency, Then I off off the campus ie a 2 minute walk to the nearest universitry gate I push into the big wide city with its busy traffic and bright lights. Then I take taxi rides at night through the tall buildings and lights I'm always amazed in how western counties say that china is a commonist state yet the skyline is much much of that of a capitiaist country.

I love to visit the temples due simply down to the fact we have nothing like this in the Uk, my ex-girlfriend says for a man with no religion why do you like visiting the temples so much! I guess its the same with Japanese tourists in Europe since they have nothing like his back home they are over excited in seeing something new.

I see the good and the bad things in china, the bad being the poor areas the pollution, the way people live crowded in buildings that look like there going to fall down, yet the people just happy in life because they have there family and friends around them, yet in the west people have many things yet they don't find that much happenies from friends or family.

I see that china is growing and that the problems of old, (human rights etc etc) are starting to be resolved, many because I believe its due to its entry into the W.T.O, simply before china did not have the money for change now that is does it would be very unwise to go back to the days of old, now that it has money they can make reforms to the law and have the money to make sure they work.

I'm happy to live in china at the moment, I'm happy to be one of the few that is seeing change in the east, I'm happy that I'm now not judging china by western values, and that I can understand the problems china is facing.

I love it, it's ultra modern, things are still relatively cheap. There is a modern 21st side of China (i.e. Shanghai) and yet you can find places that are less distrubed. The food is diverse. Really one of the finest places I have lived. Sure there are things that I do not like like the pushing and shoving & the relative rudeness of the people but that is small compared to the overall worthiness of living in China.

Shanghai
I lived in Beijing for 3 years, now Shanghai for 2 1/2, I LOVE THIS PLACE, well, most of the time, sometimes it is REALLY frustrating but others times I would never want to live anywhere else, the food is great, the people are friendly (most of the time), there are some really neat place to visit and the cost of living is low! Beijing is a great place to see the cultural, Shanghai is a great place to live in a modern city with all the comforts, Xi'an and the Terracotta Warriors are awesome, Hong Kong is WOW, Ha'erbin is cold but great winter festival, Fuzhou is hot.......

I love Hong Kong- historic but with a modern flair. Modern does trump it though, with ultra efficient and clean subway/metro network, numerous buses/cheap taxis. Shopping malls everywhere and Chinese cuisine on every block. Plenty of tourist attractions as well. City is also bilingual-English n Chinese.
