This will be a near impossible question to answer. Are you referring to "recognized" breeds? Well then it depends on who you want to recognize them. The AKC? UKC? CKC? Etc. Then there are all of the unrecognized breeds (breeds that can be considered pure bred but do not have a spot in the Kennel club's line ups). For instance, the AKC chose this year to include a new breed---the Tibetan Mastiff. This would take quite a bit of research.

There are over 400 reported dog breeds in the entire world. The American Kennel Club recognizes about 210 of those.

AKC (American Kennel Club) recognizes more than 150 breeds. However there are more than 444 breeds in existence (and this doesn't include "Designer" mutts like labradoodles etc).

It depends on what group of dog you are asking about there is are Spitz-type dogs,Hounds,Primative,Toys,Working/Herding etc but there are over a hundered in each group so it would be almost impossibel to answer that question

there is probably 300-400 true breeds of dog (I,m not including labrdoodles etc as these are basically crossbreeds)
