I think it would be a good idea to make Religion & Spirituality a general category and then have sub-categories for specific beliefs, but not for the reasons you give here.
I think those that would simply like to exchange information with people of their own faith might benefit from that type of system, but I like the mix we have. Yes, some answers are annoying. Yes, some questions are annoying.
But, I've "met" people from all different faiths (and non-faiths) here and we get along very well. I'd hate to lose that.
Hence, I'd like to keep a general R&S category for those of us who want to exchange information, argue our points, laugh with one another and learn together.
As the mayor has said, while we can't change the world, we can change our small part of it by accepting one another and respecting our differences.

I take R&S with everyone included. It is fun to have everyone together. The reason this section is so popular, and so fun, is because it is no longer just information being exchanged, but a world-wide, mulitcultural discusion group. For bettwer or worse, let us stay toghether. If you divided the sections, vandalism, and insults would increase, because each group would be an easier target. As oppesed to just messing with one person, you would have people having a specific target (each section) to go after. In this combined section, we can learn from eachother. I like to cruise through this section, and learn a little from every group. I give joking answers, and serious answers, and many times, my answers are a little of both. No , I like R&S the way it is, or I would not be here. Just ignore the questions and answers that anger you.

You just want to take all the fun out.
1- Dividing it really won't change anything. Everyone will just battle in the separate categories.
2- You are still going to get answers like that. First off, people have a habit of asking questions that the answer won't fit in a little white box. Second people are playing for the stupid two points.
3- This is probably the most active category out there which means there are business reasons not to mess with it. Many of us like it because it is the way it is.

No. I too like the generality of R&S. I can come across views that I simply wouldn't if everything was separated out.
I think people could perhaps help themselves when phrasing their questions, but then it's clear that some are trying to get radical or opposing viewpoints. And why not?
And however you split things, then there are sure to be some dolts who don't read the question, don't 'get' it or simply want to have their say regardless.
Possibly a specialist Q&As for each groups 'technical' enquiries (you know, 'What does John 2:13 mean?') seems like a good idea, but sometimes people are looking for a broader 'church' (pun intended) of opinion.
Keep it as it is I say. While it isn't perfect, it mostly works.
Of course, it might work better if we all agreed to 'Be Excellent to Each Other!'

Really all religions are based on spirituality only. Religions devoid of spirituality is no religion at all. Because some people answer this section in a ridiculous manner doesn't mean this section should be dispensed with. In fact spirituality and religion are the unseen base for all morality. Only those misinterpret ate their religious tests and fight each other are acting due to ignorance of true spirituality and religion. Likewise society and culture is an important topic. Whenever I encounter a genuine question I attempt to answer the question to the best of my knowledge. nagarajan.

I agree, and I have written to yahoo about this in the past asking that religion and spirituality be separated.
They are almost polar opposites anyway so why stick the serious seekers in with those who are content to believe what ever they are told to believe.
The worn out knee-jerk responses are a distraction and obscure the well thought well researched responses anyway.

i won't be able to consider you approximately disbanding that classification, we are all entitled to our critiques. regardless of the undeniable fact that I do have faith that that's one classification which could get a sprint heated on there, in my opinion I stay away from that classification i do no longer desire the hardship. I somewhat have seen quite some questions, lots comparable to yours approximately that classification. it would reason a rebellion in the event that they replaced it in any way, so in line with danger that's superb left on my own. i do no longer think of Yahoo can get rid of slightly, regardless of the undeniable fact that it if it grew to become into somewhat inflicting problems with abuse etc then possibly they might or might get rid of it.

You're right. Spirituality shouldn't be combined with all of this religious dogma and hooplah...........we need a spiritualism category. some people here take this way too serious....you'd think we'd see an avatar of Oprah floating around here......

Nah. it will never happen. People would still go to each others boards and respond to the questions posed as well as ask their questions.
