Why not? Church can wait, God will forgive you..
Jesus has already died for your sins.
The minister however has a problem, he is the ears of God and must be available for those who wish to speak to him.

Attending religious services is always a choice. There are lots of "once-in-a-lifetime" things going on every day, and choices must always be made.
As a hypothetical point, yes, it is ok to skip your "normal" services to attend a large rally. The hypothetical event may be a large interdenominational Christian gathering, a townwide mass worship service, for example. Our local churches have opted to cancel their regular services in leiu of such an event. That way, the minister and the old lady could ride to the event together, and still have Christian fellowship.

It would depend on the event. But my faith doesn't depend on going to church. Church simply helps.
As for the second question, I'm sure the pastor would go preach anyway. I've heard of services where in a congregation of 300-400, twelve showed up.

Okay so I what i think is that if it was important to you to go to church that day then i would. Things in this world come and go, but God is forever an interesting event that is happening every day in everything that we see. If there was a little old lady like there is in my church, the preacher if he thought it was important then he would preach if he believed what i just said.

first, we have to worship God 7 days a week, & not just one day, no we don't have to o to a building to worship him, We can have fellowship with God while we are working, playing, 2nd. It all depends on what this specil event is, If it is of a worldly nature, You should not be following that anyhow, & yes tyhe preacher is obligated to preach unto that one old lady. Jesus said where 2 or 3 are gathered in his name, their he will be in their midst. God is NOT after the numbers, he is wanting to save the soul of that person. And if that one person is saved, then they will need to be fed.

If a minister wants to go somewhere on a Sunday he would need to find someone to substitute for him. Not going to church one Sunday for the average person should be ok. Church is a necessary part of christian living. The Bible requires it.

alright according to who?
for me, worshipping God when I can where I can is more important that 'once in a lifetime' events.... and yes, the pastor would be there to preach even if only for that one person... his focus is on God and God's will for his life (at least ours here is like this) ... he has been called to be a pastor....
but, I don't think 'attendance' at church is a requirement.. i think that is man made bologna.... God knows your heart...

church is open at all times, if the event was so big, we can go to church earlier or later. If one person only went to church She and the Minister would have a wonderful chat.

No. You trying to say worldly foolish events are more important than God. In Psalms 77:13 David says" Thy way o Lord is in the sanctuary"
