I thought Pinot Noir but what's your opinion?

If you must have wine and not Guinness I would go with a Zinfandel. They are rich and spicy and can stand up to the red meat without overtaking the flavor or getting drowned out by the heavy flavors. A pinot Noir is not a bad chioce but it could be a little on the light side and you might loose the flavor of the wine.

I would most likely have beer, but if I had to choose a wine I guess it would depend whether the corned beef is Irish/Anglican cure or Germantic/Jewish cure. I'd choose a softer, less tannic red for the former. Most pinot noirs would be good (but not "bombs" from California or Australia) and also gamays. Tarragona reds from Catalonian Spain would also seem to fit the bill. Likewise Swiss Dole and French Passetoutgrains. For the latter it would seem a good Cabernet Franc, with its sweet green pepper overtones, would match perfectly.

I would be afraid the spiciness of the Corned beef would overwhelm any wine. I agree that beer is a better choice.

Corned beef is more of a beer food and there are plenty that you can choose from. So, leave the corned beef alone and dine on steak tar tare with a glass of Château Haut-Brion.

Gewurtztraminer, a spiced Rhine wine from Alsace. It has enough body to stand up to the piquancy of the corned beef and enough flavor to be enjoyed.
