Are you thinking of marriage because you want a Green Card or because you love the girl? It may make a difference because divorces in California can be draconian for the male.
Also, check out what you need to do building work. As an employee you will need a visa or Green Card (neither easy to get). But if you are planning to set up on your own, then be aware that to be a contract builder in the USA I believe you have to be licensed.

"Peter the Great" made some interesting points. If you are a "foreign national" and thinking of getting married to someone you've only known for 5 weeks the Immigration people are going to take a real hard look at you. He is also correct that in order to operate a construction business of any kind you need a license from the State of California.

Hi there glad you had a great time in LA and its nice you met someone too.
Take it easy on thoughts of getting married for a while. If you do go and live there (go for it) wait at least a year before getting hitched.
As i said in my last post home will always be home wherever one lives in the world, the best of luck to you for a happy future.

It sounds like you have already made up your mind. You have a very mobile career, so those are the structural basics. Before you go, ask your self some questions about your relationship. Then answer them on paper. It will give you a surprising clarity about your motives, and will reflect on your success. Good luck.

Yes I think you should give it a try, nothing ventured nothing gained. go 4 it. Glasgow will still be there if you want to go back.
