not a real big deal, not designed to make you fail. Lots of yelling and running, keeping clothing and equipment in order, teamwork...the sooner you get that going the better. I'd quit smoking if you smoke, jog or run every day, work some upper body...pushups, pullups, abd curls.

When I joined it was not the physical part that I found the hardest but the mental part. Boot camp is designed to break you down and then build you back into the man the Army wants. You are going to feel alone, scared and tired. Really, really tired. Do the regular physical things to get prepared, run about five miles a day, push ups, sit ups and the like. Also prepare yourself to wake up before the sun and work harder then anything you have ever done. Prepare yourself to no longer be an individual but a part of something bigger. Good luck to you, if you can survive the first six weeks you will find the Army to be the best thing to happen to you.

Learn how to do correct push ups and sit ups. Start jogging. Work or up to at least 3 miles. In basic training, they will get you in better shape than you'll ever believe. Getting in shape now will help.
Once you're there, be prepared to be hungry and tired most of the time. Grow a thick skin. Drill Sergeant's yell a LOT. It's not personal. It's their job to turn you into a soldier and get you to follow orders without question. Do what you're told, when you're told and you'll be fine. Good Luck and Thank You for being willing to serve.

Ok, heres what you need to be ready for, your pre-basic physical fitness test consists of 3 push-ups, 17 sit-ups, and running 1 mile in under 10:30. Work on all three atleast three times a week. Basic is going to fun, you'll make friends at basic you'll keep for the rest of your life. Check the link for further information.
