They had the ruling race (European) to set their spelling to make it sound's more like "Western"

Translation to greek Y, translation to Latin from Greek Y to J.
The Romans had no letter to make the Greek sound Y.
Most Latin based languages use J as similar to english Y sound. The Spanish tendency to make J come out as H is different. These letters were not the original Hebrew. Also if you notice Israelis say and even spell Israel as Yisrael.(look at a map)

Does anbody reall know how the Y was pronounced 3,000 years ago? I don't know who invented the J or why, but the meaning of a name is more important than the pronunciation.
