Nhs 24 advise - There is currently no clear evidence about the effect of UV rays from sunbeds on an unborn baby. However, early studies show that there may be a link between increased UV rays and a folic acid deficiency. This is because UV rays can break down folic acid. Folic acid is very important in the development of the baby's neural system (brain and spinal cord), which is formed in the first trimester (weeks 1-13) of pregnancy.
If you really want to have a tan while you are pregnant, it is much safer to use fake tan than a sunbed. However, fake tanning when pregnant still isn't recommended and you
so going on their advise I would say no it is better to avoid sunbeds and faketan when pregnant. Congratulations and good luck with your pregnancy.

Going on a sunbed isn't safe, full stop. It significantly increases your risk of skin cancer.
It is not known whether the rays will harm your baby, because scientists don't go around doing potentially dangerous tests on pregnant women, and sunbeds haven't be around long enough for antedotal evidence.
It is thought that rays from sunbeds can result in folic acid defiency because it gets broken down before it can be absorbed. Your baby needs folic acid.
Your baby will need you around for many years to come, so stay off the sunbed!

I would NOT! Getting a good tan is not as important as having a healthy baby. If there is any doubt in your mind you should know the answer. Use a spray on tanner. I'm sure if you are pregnant you are beautiful with that wonderful glow to your skin. You may not feel like it at times but no matter what you may think, you are beautiful! Enjoy being pregnant. It was the most wonderful time of my life. (Besides, after the baby is born, look out! lol)

Sunbeds are never a good thing to use, pregnant or not. They dramatically speed up the ageing of your skin, and double your risk of getting skin cancer. If you're still really desperate to continue - use fake tan out of a bottle instead. Be safe! :-)

Sun bed is good if it is between 5 am - 9 am & 5.30 pm - 6.30 pm in all conditions. As sun’s raise is good for health in various ways, during pregnant it is more useful to you & well as to the child, but ones you cross 6 months of pregnant then you should not go as it may harm the child, ones after the child is out & it is of 1 month you can continue.
Hope all goes well with you & you child. Take care.

I have read in my Moms-to-be Magazine that you should not go to any tanning beds when pregnant. It has something to do with the amount of UVB rays that are absorbed into your skin/body.... But I don't know the medical reasons other than that!

Better to be safe than sorry....try using the new body lotions that are on the market now which give your body a natural hint of colour. Reduces the risk of skin cancer and is quicker and more cost effective!!!
