It used to be safer. I lived in Thailand for 2 years and was virtually carefree. Obviously I would take precautions like putting my wallet in my front pocket and locking the door to my apartment......etc...

However, since the attacks there is a need to be more cautious and assertive. I would recommend to stay away from crowded areas because you never know. At the same time though, it is safe at all hours of the day (terror attacks aside).

Bangkok is as safe as any other city. No one is totally safe from terrorists, and you never know when they can carry out an attack. I live in Bangkok and feel very safe day or night. Just be vigilant as you would be in any other city.

Since I live here in Bangkok, I may say... yes.. safer than many capital cities in Europe, Asia and US. I can go anywhere, anytime, 24 hours a day as I want. Just take general safety precaution people should take.

It is alot safer than any other western european city, like paris, london etc, just keep away from seedy areas at night time like surkimvit after bars close just jump a taxi, always keep to the busy streets and yor safe as houses but over all not matter what you safe in country your also safe...

yes its safe, but it depends what you will be doing and if you travel alone or go out and about in dark alleys after everyone has gone home.
You just take sensible precautions, your likely to charmed out of your money than robbed! There are many scam artists.
WHy stay in a busy, polluted city when there are many many beautiful and peacefull places you could visit.?
