Two of my dogs are on a raw diet. Chicken is their staple food. But they also get whole fish (avoid salmon) beef liver, chicken livers and gizzards, and I get lots of other freebies from family and friends. Such as deer and rabbits. These are all fed raw. They also get a few raw eggs shells and all a few times a week.

I don't see the need to feed rice to a dog. Dogs little to no nutrition from it, as it is a filler.

When I started feeding a raw diet a few years ago I was able to cut my dog food bill in half. A raw diet can be be very inexpensive. You just need to know how to shop. Look for sales, buy in bulk.

There is another diet option other than dog food. Some people choose to feed a raw diet. This involves feeding the dog raw meaty bones and organ meat. However it is not as simple as throwing a couple chicken bones in a bowl everyday. If you wish to feed this type of diet, do lots and lots of research first. Switching to this diet without knowing what your doing can lead to nutritional problems for your dog. I'll give you some links as a starting point in research if you are interested in this type of diet.

Most Dogs Will Enjoy Raw Meat.....But Studies Show That It May Eventually Kill Your Dog At The Age Of 5 Or So.....What I Do Is Give My Dog A Cup Of Cooked Rice And 2 Layers Of Chicken In His Bowl.....I Hope That Helps

Don't feed to a dog, what you wouldn't feed to a human. You wouldn't feed a human, rancid meat, so don't feed a dog rancid meat. That's just an example, I'm not saying you would actually do that. Just make sure whatever you feed the dog, doesn't have bones or something like that in it, as we almost had our dog die as a result of ingesting bones.

Raw chicken wings/necks are excellent for dogs. I usually freeze mine and give straight from the freezer.. It's like having an icey pole. (have checked this with about 3/4 different vets and all say it's ok)
I also boil chicken and mix with rice and a few vegies (broccoli, carrot) Never give your dog onions, chocolate (or any form) raisins, grapes, cooked bones, mushrooms

My dog enjoys a full Sunday roast with us every week (cooked meat, no bones, potatoe carrots, broccoli gravy etc) and she loves it

for a special treat once or twice a week my dog loves raw chicken wings or necks. they are the cheapest part to buy (about $3 per kilo) and because they are raw it isnt dangerous for dogs to just munch the whole thing down, bones and all. They also love liver.

Dogs will eat almost anything you give them. I've got two mastiffs and they even eat stuff I don't want them to eat, like my window screens and trim off of my truck.

I feed them leftovers from time to time, just don't give them anything with onions in it. Onions and chocalate are poision to dogs. Also cooked chicken bones are hard on their GI tract.

feed them dog food no cooked food at all, they live longer healthier lives if you keep them on a consistent healthy dog food diet and regular visits to the vet.
