When calling a girl to ask her out on a date, should I first chit chat?

Hi,
I think I am going to call a gril to ask her on a date.
When I call her, should I first chit chat, before getting to the point,
or should I call her, say hi, ask her how her week is, and then ask her? After that the next time we speak is when we see each other in person?

Aslo, what do you think is a good idea - not too intimidating?
A club, bowling, dinner?? Any ideas?

Chit chat with her...
if you dont know her well, try something where keeping the conversation going will be simple--like bowling or skating...
or try a coffee date first... short, sweet... to the point...
but definitely chit chat--or be honest--tell her you are asking her out beuase you are interested in getting to know her more.

it never ceases to amaze me how many men think women just adore being looked at like a piece of meat. the way you do this is think of how you like to be treated and do the same. if someone was going to ask you out, dont you like them to take legitimate interest in you and who you are? how bout being sincere rather than chit chatty. as randy jackson always says ...keep it real and you might have more success.
