If you have allergies, be sure to take an OTC allergy medication daily to keep fluid build-up from getting infected. For earache pain relief, you can try warm sweet oil (find it at your pharmacy), or lay on a heating pad or hot water bottle (wrapped in a towel). Old home remedies suggest pouring urine in the ear or using a hair dryer, but I don't recommend those ;-p

All these answers are correct, but you could also have a ear wax plug in your ear. Some of my family members get these and they do hurt. Put some ear drop oil in your ear and lay down on that side on a heating pad. If they plug doesn't drain out, the doctor's office will flush it out with warm water. I had one and it hurt, but when I got it out, I could hear so much better and the pain was gone.

See a physician (doctor) if it continues. If you have been swimming lately, it could be swimmers ear or an infection.

Go see your doctor & sooner rather than later. Could be an infection or numerous other things but once earache starts properly you will know about it!
