Every Mormon Missionary I've asked about masturbation has sworn to me that they don't. One said, "I have but it's been years." The other one said, "NO, I DON"T! YOU DON'T NEED TO MASTURBATE TO BE HAPPY!" Is it really possable that they're telling the trueth? I'd prefer to get an honest answer from a long time practicing Mormon. I know I've never been able to go longer than 14 days with out masturbating and I'm a female.

I suppose some are telling the truth. We are counseled not to masturbate. So, I would hope that they are telling the truth. It is a rather personal thing.

I think the main reason [some] Mormons claim they never masterbate is because they are either embarassed or don't want to talk about it, and denial is the easiest way to avoid a topic. It's a pretty personal topic and I would understand a missionary not wanting to talk about it, nor would I imagine anyone would want to ask a missionary if they personally do or have done it - it's a little intrusive.

The Mormon church's doctrine, as do other religions (including Buddhism), teaches its members to work towards overcome the self. Masturbation is essentially endulging one's own desires and satisfying the flesh. That does not mean that people don't do it (some may do it a lot). In life we may have many ideals, which we may or may not attain, but that doesn't mean we can't believe in them or seek to practice accordingly.

There are other topics that may come up when talking about masturbation, including pornography, sexual experimentation, etc. I think men have a more difficult time with these issues, but women can also. I won't go into the known issues with these things.

So, in conclusion, I agree there are probably plenty of Mormons who masturbate, but because it is seen as giving into the flesh it is something they would choose not to do. It is personal, so they probably don't want to discuss it with you, and that is appropriate. Hope this answered the question.

Where one finds happiness is personal.

Because good mormons don't masturbate, that's why. And it is possible. I'm mormon and don't masturbate. Sure there are natural urges but they are temptations to be overcome not to be satisfied. Prior to marraige, the body naturally takes care of excess fluids and such in a manner called nocturnal releases (wet dreams). After marraige, then you have your spouse to take care of those desires.
