try putting a heating pad on it. after about 15 minutes start massaging your neck and then turning it gently. repeat process until it loosens up. do Not use heating pad with things as icy hot, etc. it can cause your skin to blister.

You could try lying back in a hot bath, to warm the muscles. Take some painkillers, too. Then lie on your side, on the floor. Without a pillow. Painful side towards the ceiling. It will hurt like blazes. But as the neck stretches, the pain will ease. After a few minutes, it should go. Get up very gently and carefully. The painkillers should enable you to move freely, which is what you want, to get the muscles out of their spasm.

I suggest you tackle your stiff neck problem in 2 ways

1) Reduce your neck pain
- Rub some muscle oilment on your neck. It helps.

2) Prevent future problem from arising
- Bring your pillow and bake it in the sun. Dampness in your pillow is said to cause the problem.
- Increase the height of your pillow. My doctor says the pillow height should be the height of your fist. Make your pillow fatter or add another pillow.
- Yoga helps me alot. Some yoga exercise relax the muscle around my neck.
- I have this problem when I sleep in an air-con room. I reduce the occurrences by off my air-con in the night.

One time I pulled the muscles on the left side of my neck and it was very uncomfortable. I tried a heating pad for it and that helped. You could also probably try something like icy hot. If this continues in to tomorrow pls check with your dr.

Go to a chiropractor if you can. They can help you feel better. If you cant get there today, put hot compresses on your neck to help the muscles relax.

take a nice hot shower and some motrin or advil....take it every four hours and that should help the inflammation...if it is not better tomorrow or if you develop a fever or any other symptoms, call the doctor right away....good luck
