You feel no pain at all, even with a broken bone. You don't know you have to go to the restroom, or that your fingers are freezing in the outside cold. On the upside, no pregancy or labor pains.

I've heard of this - genetic complete anesthesia. It's very dangerous and rare.

A life without pain - and you wouldn't be able to feel a broken bone? Therefore it could puncture an artery causing hemorrhage and death.

You can't tell your fingers are freezing so you neglect gloves and then you end up with frost bite and possible necrosis resulting in the need of amputation.

Pain is an excellent thing, it helps us diagnose problems. Pain is a tool that we use to solve problems. We locate a problem when pain is presented. Then we fix the problem (if possible) depending on what it is. When there is no pain, we can't rely on the feedback of the body.

Having no pain would be like having no "service engine" light in your car. Ya, the light is a nag, but if you didn't have it, costs of repairs would be astronomical because we wouldn't take our car in to the mechanic until it would no longer start and until it was too late!

Yes I've seen it and it is horrible. The little girl in the middle gouged her eyes out-but-SHE DIDN'T feel ANY PAIN. Wow what a life she must have. I feel so bad for those kids. That little girl will never have labor pains because she probably won't live that long. It's very, very sad. I thank God that my body tells me when I'm in pain. Of course I'm not happy with the excruciating pain I feel but I would much rather have pain than no pain at all. Those kids have been on Oprah and Dateline and others. They can put their hand on a burner thats on high and never know it......BUT I think I know what you are getting at "a life without pain" yes it would be great if there were some other warning signs of danger to the body. They have a disease so horrible it makes me thankful for all of my forms of arthritis=over 12

A life without pain would be lovely, especially for someone who has constant pain. But, in reality, I will take the pain over the disease that causes you to feel no pain at all. No it isn't fun to think that there are people, not many, who have this disease and can't tell when they have broken anything, when it is cold, and they risk their life daily. You must be a very unhappy person to think that this is a better way of life.
