Yes it is possible, but only if you can see light at the end of the long-distance tunnel. You'd have to know it wasn't going to be a long-distance forever.
I met my partner online, she was living in the US and i was living in the UK. We started a great friendship online that turned to love and after spending 2 years flying back and forth from one country to another visiting eachother, we got married last summer and are now living happily together in the UK :-)
Long distance love can work if both your hearts are in it.

it may last for a while, but unless you two can get together for real, it won;t last long...the longing will bring you apart eventually. if you have plans for the future to meet and have a real relationship, it may work, but the longer the wait, the smaller the chances. being that far away will not give it a serious note, and one of you is bound to find someone else, closer than the other.choose wisely

Depends on one thing: How much time will you spend in 2 different time zones (or continent in your case).
If you're only apart for a few months, then it's worth it. Maybe even a year or longer if you really love each other.
If it's like you don't know who will move first. Or, after visiting a few times, you don't know when the other will move back or visit again, then it's not worth it. It's too painful.

It really depends on how much you are expecting out of the relationship. Maybe you just need someone to call girlfriend/boyfriend. Exactly what are you trying to "fulfill"?

It's possible. I'm living proof. Im married with two children to a man who I only saw twice a month for a year before I decided to move to his country! A year later we married. But it doesn't work for everyone!

Yes, it's possible...absence makes the heart grows fonder... but in the long run, it is not healthy

yes it is very possible if you are patient and strong enough to withstand the distance and time apart, but it does happen
