ah so many beautiful cities...and places!
* How about Lake Baikal. It is the worlds largest fresh water lake (it holds 20% of the worlds fresh water, more than all of America's Great Lakes combined).
Where:
It is near Irkutsk in Siberia, Russia.
When:
I went there 3 years ago as part of my Trans-Siberian express journey from Moscow to Beijing.
What I did there?
I stood on the front of the engine on the Circum-Baikal railway (after bribing the train driver $10) - and got the most amazing view of the lake, all the carved out bridges...plus there's great local fish, excellant trekking in the hills....and Irkutsk is a friendly city too!
* How about Tiger leaping Gorge?
Where:
Yunnan Province, SW China
When:
I went there last year
What I did there:
I trekked it, 1 day up, 2 days along the top of the wolds deepest river gorge, and one day down...
How about Goreme, Cappadochia?
Where: Turkey
What - the magical landscape of the 'Fairy Chimneys' makes this place seem like an alien world, plus the underground cities where the Hittites hid from the Egyptians and where the Christians hid from the Romans are brilliant too!
What I did:
I took the balloon flight over it of course ...
* How about the beautiful medieval sanstone city of Santiago de Compostela?
Where:
Galicia, Northern Spain
When: every couple of years in July for the Feast Day of St James on 24th and 25th July.
What I did:
1) watched the brilliant fireworks and laser light show on the Cathedral set to wonderful music on the night of 24th July.
2) saw the Pilgrimns Mass ...
* How about ... oooh so many places in Italy, France, Croatia, Spain...
More favourites:
ITALY:
* Roma, Italy - enough said!
* Florence, Italy - when I first laid eyes on Michelangelo's David at the Acedemia I knew that this breathtaking masterpice represents the pinnacle of mankinds achievement in sculpture - I say if you ever see anything more perfect, it must have been created by God's own hand...!
* Siena, Italy - much is written about the Duomo in Florence, and it is impressive on the outside, but the inside is a bore compared to beautiful Siena's Duomo, never finished due to the Plague - but still a riot of colorful mosaics inside, and a glorious masterpice for the outside!
SPAIN:
* Salamanca, Spain - stunning Renaissance city with Europe's most beautiful Plaza Mayor - a great place to hang out!
* Granada, Spain - The Alhambra Palace is one of the most important and beautiful monuments in Europe, bequeathed to us by the Moors...plus I go there for the Flamenco and the Semana Santa.
* Cordoba, Spain - The Mezquitta is one of those places that makes your mouth drop open in wonder!
* Valencia, Spain - I've visted this city every year for the Las Fallas Fire festival, one of the worlds greatest festivals, it's got everything...music, partying, fireworks, bonfires, parades...
* Barcelona - enough said ... except I might mention La Merce in September...
CROATIA:
* Dubrovnik, Croatia - a near perfect, almost completely unspoilt medieval old town ...
* Split, Croatia - the Roman Emperor Diocletian's Palace make's this place worthy of a visit from anyone!
* St Petersburg - enough said... except that you should go in June for the White Nights and watch all the bridges being raised one after another on the Neva ....
could go on forever here...
Hope that helps

Portsmouth. It is located in Hampshire on the south coast of England in the United Kingdom of Great Britain. Roughly 30 years ago to catch a ship to France. It is a City on the sea, with ships and nautical things. It is old but also new and there is the Gunwarf quays and spinnaker tower. I go there to watch the football. POMPEY are my side and they play at Fratton Park.
