I don't mean to offend all Christian's and I know my question sounds like I am, but I can't help but ask this because while I do have a few really cool Christian friends I have listened to the more conservative fundamentalists Christians talk and they do sound kind of dorky and make Christianity sound really corny. Why is that?

I am a Christian, but I know what you mean. It always bothers me too, and I think it is harming the image of Christianity. The author of the book, I dared to call him Father, called it 'christianese'. Maybe it's talking only to each other that makes Christians develop strange language, but I always wish they'd try to use normal, everyday English and remember that strange phrases certainly aren't more 'holy'!

Not all Christians are created equal in their ability to spread the word of the Lord. In fact many Christians do not actively spread the word at all. And not all people who hear the word of the Lord regard it in the same way. Even as you mentioned you have some cool Christian friends but others sound "dorky." Please consider that those Christians that sound dorky to you may sound "cool" to someone else. But in reality, sounding dorky or cool or whatever is not the real meaning of Christianity! The real meaning is in YOUR heart and in your mind. Have you given your soul to Christ? And I don't necessarily mean by standing up in front of a church congretation and professing your love of Jesus - how do you feel in your heart? How do you treat your fellow man? Do you live your life with integrity, honesty and truth, do you help the other guy when he needs help, do you comfort someone in their of need? Do you have an eleoguent manner of speaking and do you want to spread the word of God? You may be able to do an excellent job and not sound dorky at all. Someone else may have a different way of expressing himself. As far as Christianity sounding corny it may be that you are not as familiar with the Bible as you could be. Many many passages in the Bible can be interpreted in different ways, and if taken out of context totally different means can be taken. And maybe it sounds corny because it is being presented that way - either intentionally or inadvertently. Worry not about how it sounds - concentrate on how you believe and act in your everyday life. Blessings!

Because Christianity is corny and dorky by the world's standards. Personally, I find certain corny dorky ones refreshing.

Christians do not follow the same path as the rest of the world maybe when you face God in your final moments it will become more clear to you...
