The formal official addition of it as a second language would probably not be for a very long time, I think very conservative people would throw a **** fit even though we are pretty much there anyways. Many need to stop complaining about immigrants not having a perfect grasp of the English language when many Americans are totally unwilling to even learn a bit of a foreign language. I hope it is considered one soon though! I'm prepared, I love Spanish!!!:)

Why should Americans be willing to learn a foreign language when they live in America and the language is ENGLISH? It's like saying: I'm going to go live in Germany and the German's need to learn English to accommodate me. That's ridiculous. Hopefully Americans don't fall into the same trend Canada with Quebec where French is the official language followed by English (the signs have to legally be bigger in French with English "subtitles". I am Hispanic and I speak fluent Spanish yet I also speak fluent English. The government needs to cut the political correctness that is ruining this country.

this country will never have an official language... spanish is already pretty common in the U.S. but not quite "official." i speak english, cuban spanish, mexican spanish, puerto rican spanish, and a little chinese.

too many races live in the U.S. to be sure. there will not ever be a time when there's only one language in the U.S. being spoken... or at least i hope not!!

I think we're already there, even if it isn't official yet. Just look all around you and see how everthing is written in English and Spanish. The government hasn't made it official, but I think most businesses have.

nicely, I knew that the language grew to become into Portuguese, yet.. nicely, in all probability it particularly is for countless issues: Portugal is next to Spain and the different little bit of it particularly is surrounded by technique of water, so, it does not be unusual which you spoke Spanish Portuguese and Spanish are so comparable that folk who understand in user-friendly terms a splash 1 of them, or that have not any theory, confuse it definitely, particularly because of the fact Spanish is a little extra "familiar" just to emphacize this, i'm going to tell you that the day previous to this, me and my brother have been at a eating place jointly as the soccer game of Portugal began, my brother heard, without paying interest, the "honest Play" difficulty, study by technique of the Portuguese captain and he grew to become into particularly shocked to verify a Portuguese "speaking Spanish" i know it relatively is stressful that folk decide you in user-friendly terms because of the fact of your united states of america. I, as a Mexican, experience it many times, nevertheless, we would desire to continually get customed and wait and see with the ignorant ones. C ya!
