I have a friend who has a daughter who has real thick curly hair she wants to straighten it, but not until she finds out what to put in it to help with not totally destroying it from the heat. What can she use?? We live in a very small town (pop 550) no blk hairstylist around so she has to learn and do it herself. She has keep her hair braided and done since she was a lil toddler but she is older now and the hair is thicker and harder to manage. Please help!!! what can she do or use?? Thanks!

Keep it moisturized at all times, don't let her wear it down.DON'T perm or process it!,don't comb from the root...but from the ends up,wash and condition every three days.......................Some GREAT hair products for fine, curly hair;Aussie DEEEP three minute miracle,John Freida frizz ease, any moisture shampoo and conditioner(I like nexxus products),If her scalp becomes dry,buy apenetrative oil like African pride or hot 6 and spread a dollar size amount on her scalp (rub it in but don't tangle hair)and brush out to the ends.

I would try heavier hair masks instead of normal conditioner. mix a standard leave-in conditioner and a dry/split end serum on the palm of your hand and apply on the entire length. comb down and fix with clips to dry or put hair in small quantity on large curlers pulling downwards, add heat with blow dryer (not too close: stay a good 10-12"awayfrom heat source) then cool down with air until completely dry and cold(or effect wont last!). Brush out with care over the palm of your hand with a good soft brush. add and protection from humidity shine with gloss spay. Efficient and inexpensive products to be found on the Avon.com site and shipped to you. enjoy the success

She can goto a beauty supply store and get a texturizer. It's not going to make the hair straight but it will make the hair more manageable. Kinda like a perm but more gentlier for a childs hair.
