I always maintain that a shiny coat comes from within. I always give my dog a teaspoon of sunflower oil in her dried food once or twice a week and she has a very shiny healthy coat.

i always give my staff a special coat enhansing primrose oil... it does wonders for his coat he always has so many comments about it ... it also helps to chill him out abit i also use a coat oil on him in the cold weather which i just massage into his skin and it helps keep his fur weather proof and makes it shiny, other than that cod liver oil also works wonders and is great for joints!!

Put eggs in his/her food, that will produce a shiny coat and it's healthy for them. I have two shar-peis and I feed them dog food, mixed with eggs and bread sometimes raw meat. Your dog may put on a little weight but with just eggs it shouldn't be much.

being spayed does not have any affect on the coat. i would have her thyroid check by a vet. i hope that you are feeding a good quality of dog food.
