Pembroke Welsh Corgis were originally born bob tailed. However, as docking became more popular, breeders quit focusing on that trait, and began to dock those that weren't born short tailed..If docking is illegal where you live, it applies to Corgis as well.
Cardigan corgis are born with long bushy tails, and by tradition are left long.
I'm betting that breeders will soon begin breeding for the bobbed tail trait in the Pembroke.

Corgi's are the two born and not utilising a tail or they are docked. What might make you think of they might not be? I recommend, in case you like a Corgi with a tail, then seem on the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, no longer the Cardigen Welsh Corgi. BTW, they have distinctive builts and distinctive personalities. in case you like a canines with a tail, then do no longer seem at docked breeds. finally, the pupose of docking a Corgi's tail is that so it would not get stepped on and broken while it replaced into herding livestock.

The law has been bought in to stop all docking unless the dogs are from a papered working litter.
Did you know that corgis have their tails docked as some are born with no tails, so the others were docked to make the normal tailed docks look like the tailess dogs, so that they didn't look odd.
So if you really must have a tailess corgi then you can still get one.

From April 6 2007, the tail docking of Corgi's will be illegal under the Animal Welfare Act in England and Wales. From April 30 2007 it will be illegal in Scotland under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act. For further information about dog law please contact the Kennel Club on www.thekennelclub.org.uk

Breeds born without tails will not be affected. It is just those breeds docked after the April 07 Act will not be able to be shown where there is a paying audience like crufts.

I don't know about that but it should be. Why anyone wants to vandalise a dog I do not know. I once saw a Rottweiler with a complete tail and it looked fantastic.
Do the Queens corgis have their tails docked, and if so will she be allowed to continue?

sorry but dont really agree with docking unless the dog is to be worked ie for the benefit of the dog. not for looks . sorry if offended. nothing nicer than to see a wagging tail rather than a wagging stub..

If your corgi doesn't have a tail...then you don't have a problem.
