My 9 month old Dobe Blitz is current on his shots. We were at the dog park and one thing led to another and he was tripple teamed by a trio of yellow labs (all different owners). One lab had a pretty good hold of his ear and the others just snapped at him and barked as he was pulled around by his ear. He has a cut/bite below his left ear where it folds, a few small bite/scrapes inside his ear and a puncture wound on the top of his head...this one worries me a little...when cleaning the wound puss comes out...and the area looks swolen...Can I use a Tripple anti-biotic on him, and what are some signs to watch out for? what type of antibiotics can he receive? Thank you in advance for you help.

take the poor dog to the vet sounds like infection has set in and he needs the prescription medication . Also please keep your dog out of the dog park . I am so against these places because of exactly your sittuation . People who take these dogs to the dog park are sometimes not vaccinated ,are not very well looked after and most of the owners of these dogs are morons who leave without leaving you their phone numbers when their dogs start the trouble . So please get your dog to the vet and lodge a complaint with your dog park commisioner or the park ranger . good luck to you .

I cant give you any better advice than has already been posted about the ear, but i can ask if you got names from the owners of the labs. If you didnt i hope you got a good punch in. You will still need to take your dog to the vet, just to make sure the wounds are flushed out and there is no dirt or anything in them. Wounds on the ears are most likely to get infected coz believe it or not they are the dirtiest. If you did get a number, find out if the labs were up to date in shots too. Then ask the lab owners to pay the vet bills.

I am a disabled veteran I have a short legged Jack Russel. (If you are familiar with the breed, they are about as big around as they are tall ) She is my life and I understand what it means to have an attack from a dangerous animal it came to light yesterday. I was walking her as I do 3 times a week and in front of my apartment a dog (about a year old, Pit bull mix) came from across the street and attacked while I had her on a leash. She has received several cuts and scrapes and 1 cut about an inch long. she has been shivering and shaking more than usual (That type of dog does that normally) My income is not very good and the vets do cost more than what they should in my opinion, I just cleaned the wounds with peroxide and have stayed with her all day reassuring her of the safe place and the love I have for her. After looking on the internet I find out there is not much I can do about the attack because the dog attacked her instead of me. They consider a dog as property and not a family member.

How awful! Poor thing. I presume you're not certain if the 3 dogs had their vaccinations or not. The puss doesn't sound too good. You're probably aware of this but just in case... animals have many similar body reactions as humans which means they can react badly to meds without the proper advise from a professional. Surely you wouldn't give your child an antibiotic just because someone told you to over the Internet. The same applies for your loving pet. Take him to a vet. In the meantime, you might want to try cleansing the wounds with warm camomile.

You can give him amoxil but you should take your dog to the vet. The wound needs to be cleaned and possibly stitched. Deep wounds are dangerous. A while back my dog got attacked and had what I thought was a puncture wound but turned out to be more like a pocket down deep. The vet said that it would not have healed on its own-it had puss too. He stitched it down deep and then on top. Your dog is worth the trip to the vet.

I see alot of this in the dog rescue I work for seeing majority of our dog are rescued from over crowded shelters.

Your dog definately needs to see a vet. Depending on the severity of the bites and infection already happening, they may suggest different remedies.

The least concerning would be administiring an antibotic after cleaning out the wounds. Possibly a pain medication depending in the depth of the wound and pain your dog is showing. On the worst end we have had to have some dogs stay over night after an attack to have certain muscles drained as they were damaged. This lead to medication, head cones, watching of the tubes until they could be removed later on.

I hope you were able to speak to the other pet owners. I pry their dogs had their shots. I personally avoid dog parks.

You really ought to take the little guy to the vet and file a complaint about the owners of the labs which are endangering other dogs in the park.

You can use triple ointment on him, but he likley needs to get amoxicillin or such from a vet.. You can clean the wounds with hydroge peroxide, but be careful to keep it out of his eyes.

The sgns to watch for, are the wounds getting worse, rather than better each day.

This canines got here into your backyard, your canines's territory. He grew to become into an invader, and your canines grew to become into protecting you and his domicile. while he's on the canines park, that's a impartial floor with many canines, that's no longer HIS domicile... Wash the chew/scratch with heat water, amybe placed some antibiotic cream like Polysporin on.
