Why are you in a hurry? if you are already good friends just pick up the tempo just a bit, hang out more, tell this person how you are feeling, by trying to rush things it will confuse you and possibly scare this person off.
You have already got the best start possible by being friends
just improve on that

Since you're already friends and hanging out with each other, if he liked you then you would know. Save yourself the embarrassment and find someone else to take an interest in, and THIS time be a little more direct with the person before you get too comfy settling into a "friendship".
