When I switched from smoking to eating it, I had to use an empty bong for a while, so take into account that it is a ritual as well as a habit, and even an addiction for some (cold turkey after 30 years, no ill effects), so try switching to eating first, to break the smoking habit, then gradually reduce the amount and frequency of use. Have things to replace the void left behind, electronic games, exercise, meditation, Tai Chi, yoga, websurf, sport, etc. Keep occupied, eat healthily.

weed is not even physically addicting so it appears that your symptoms are probably the result of something else. quitting weed is a lifestyle change facilitated through the change of social circles and being around it. If you have an addictive personality, you might find yourself replacing weed with alcohol or some other worse substance. If that is the case, you are better off smoking weed. If your symptoms continue you should see a doctor because something else is going on in your body (other drugs?)

I quit after smoking everyday for 3 years straight cold turkey...
forced myself to go through all the crap and manic episodes... and physical withdrawal symptoms pass within 5-14 days... the tough hurdle was the irritability and hyper-sensitivity which affected an innumerate number of relationships. Also... the key is not to panic... and to really harcore resolve not to take.
Best if your social circle is bereft of any hardcre users like yourself. If not the temptation would be too great.
Or maybe you could try cutting down. But I never managed that... my supply seemed endless till my dealer and a bunch of friends got caught... so you could say I was a victim of circumstance and had to quit cos there was NO CHOICE.
but went through it the hardway. Just had to stop myself from panicking and wanting to drop everything and leave for a place where cannabis is tolerated... thats the psychological dependance thats a tricky one to overcome.
So basically what I'm saying is... the withdrawals don't last for long. You have to psyche yourself into making a decision.. (albeit a god one).. and sticking to your guns. This might mean limiting yourself to non-abusers but its your decision.. the hardest thing is an inexaustible supply and 'great' connections/friends that would invite you over for a session or five everyday.
Choice is yours.
Its the psychological dependence that I detest. And I'm glad I lost that stupid idea of having my life revolve around it's peresence and absence...
this country has zero tolerance which kind of helps you quit cos big brother is gonna get you ONE DAY! Like my friends and possibly ME.
I don't like the idea of prison so I guess thats that

There are doctors who specialize in this, so you should see one.
Start by figuring out how much you smoke in a day, and then start cutting down. Cut down about 10% a day for three days, then another ten percent for three days, for a month. Also start drinking a lot of water, like eight glasses a day of 8 oz. each. Exercise will help: try 30-60 minutes a day of walking. Also, if your friends won't support you in cutting it out, get new friends or stop seeing the old ones. Try taking a multi-vitamin and taking care of yourself in other ways, too. But, really, best to see a doctor who specializes.

It would be very rare if you could quit on your own. Go to an AA meeting. There are DA meetings but AA is the first and the most successful. Weed gave you pleasure initially, but like all drugs, the users end up trying to get that first high and failing miserably. Good luck.
